Pathway 1
Supported Trial — a Solutions Specialist by your side

The simplest way to trial, with expert support built in. One of our Oscar Care Solutions Specialists joins you for the appointment — at your client's home or in our showroom — and brings the equipment along with the product knowledge to back it up.

We'll help with setup, fitting and configuration, and can suggest alternatives on the spot if something isn't quite right. Your free to focus on the clinical assessment and the clients need; we handle the gear.

Good to know — No set time limits. We travel to clients across our service areas. Secondary Trials available if we didn't find the right solution on the first Trial.

How it works
1
Tell us the clients needs and where you'd like to meet — your client's home or our showroom.
2
A Solutions Specialist coordinates a time and brings suitable equipment options.
3
Trial together, with our Specialist on hand for setup, fitting, configuration and alternatives.
4
We take the equipment away afterward. And follow up with any required quotes.
Pathway 2
Assessment Loan — borrow from our showroom

Best for: clinician-led trials

Take the equipment to your own client visits. Borrow items from the Oscar Care showroom for up to two weeks and run the trials yourself, on your own schedule — no appointment to coordinate with us.

It's the flexible option when you'd rather work independently: fit trials around your existing visits, and take the same equipment to more than one client while you've got it. Just sign for the items and drop them back when you're done.

Conditions
  • The equipment stays in your care throughout the loan and is used while you're with your client — it isn't left with the client.

  • You're responsible for the safekeeping of the items while they're with you, and for any loss or damage beyond fair wear.

  • Need longer to finish your trials? You can request an extension.

How it works
1
Choose the items you’d like to trial from our showroom.
2
Sign the loan record — the equipment stays with you for up to 2 weeks.
3
Use it with your clients during your sessions.
4
Drop it back. No charge.
Pathway 3
Extended Home Trial — let your client try it at home

Cost: hire fee waived

When a client needs to live with a piece of equipment to know it's right, we'll supply it from our hire pool for up to two weeks and waive the hire fee for the trial.

Your client assesses suitability in their own home, on their own terms. If it's the right fit, we'll help them buy it or set them up on an ongoing hire — and if it's not, they simply return it.

Good to know (for prescribers) — the trial is a hire with the fee waived, arranged and endorsed by you for a named client. The client is the hirer and signs a simple hire record at handover, so care and responsibility for the equipment sit with them.

For clients & families
An Extended Home Trial lets you try equipment in your own home, free, for up to two weeks — arranged through your OT/clinician. There's no cost for the trial itself (delivery may apply for longer distances or larger items).

Ask us about a home trial →

How it works
1
Tell us the item and the client you’d like to set up.
2
We supply it from our hire pool — hire fee waived for up to 2 weeks (freight may apply for longer distances or bulky items).
3
Your client trials it at home and decides if it’s right.
4
Keep it — buy it or continue on a hire — or return it.

Frequently asked questions
Do trials cost anything?
No. All three pathways are free to trial. For an Extended Home Trial, delivery/freight may apply for longer distances or bulky items.
Who's liable for the equipment?
In a Supported Trial, we keep custody, so there’s no liability on you. In an Assessment Loan, you’re responsible while the items are in your possession. In an Extended Home Trial, the client is the hirer and carries that responsibility
Can I leave the Assessment Loan equipment with my client?
No. Those items stay in your care and are used while you’re with the client. If a client needs to keep equipment at home, use an Extended Home Trial instead.
How long can a trial run?
A Supported Trial is a single appointment with no set time limit. Assessment Loans and Extended Home Trials run up to two weeks; Assessment Loans can be extended on request.
What happens after an Extended Home Trial?
The client can buy the equipment, continue on an ongoing hire, or return it. We’ll help with whichever they choose.
Do you deliver?
Yes — delivery and setup are available (and included in a Supported Trial). For home trials, a freight charge may apply for longer distances or bulky items.
After the trial
When a trial confirms the right product, we make the next step easy.
Whether that's purchase, an ongoing hire, or a path to ownership.

Frequently asked questions

How long can I hire for?

As long as you need — hire continues until you return the equipment. A short minimum hire period applies.

How do payments work?

Hire is billed in advance. You can pay open-ended — automatic payments on a weekly schedule — or pay upfront for a set hire period, by cash, EFT, EFTPOS, cheque or card.

What if an automatic payment doesn’t go through?

It’s retried automatically. If it still doesn’t clear, we’ll be in touch.

Who fixes it if something goes wrong?

We do — repairs for faults in normal use are covered at no charge. Damage from misuse may be charged.

Do you deliver?

Yes — delivery and setup are available for a charge. You’re also welcome to collect the equipment from us and return it yourself. Either way, we show you how to use it safely.

What if my situation changes?

Talk to us. We can look at pausing or rescheduling payments in cases of genuine financial hardship.

What if I decide I want to keep it?

You can — ask us about Hire to Buy, and the hire you’ve already paid can count toward owning it.
